(n) a traditional eastern European dance usually performed on the feast of St. Drusus. Nothing much is remembered about St. Drusus except that he was a christian martyr. Appropriately, most people can't remember how to do the the dersa so that by the end of the dance utter chaos reigns and most participants stalk off the floor with a martyred air.
Wasn't he in the same order as St. Vitus of dance fame?
ReplyDeleteI think you're right teach. Along with St. Anthony of the "fire" fame.
ReplyDeleteMonks from this order were know for their habit of eating rye bread and washing it down with generous quantities of rye beer.
What a coincidence -- that sounds exactly like every attempt to do the hora at every bar mitzvah party I ever went to.
