The condition of a certain type of bridesmaid's dress by the end of a wedding reception.
Ex: As Bridget scrutinized the photographs of the wedding party, she saw that her bridesmaid's gown was frilt, making her look 25 pounds overweight.
Applies particularly to dresses that brides select during the curious state of "bride hypnosis", in which a bride-to-be sinks into memories and plans from pre-teen/early teen years, selecting dresses of ruffles and bows best reserved for persons of an age requiring only a single digit to record.
alt. def. A term referring to the hypnotic state cited above, e.g. "Once Susan decided to have a wedding, she was frilt.
Most of the bridesmaids dresses are frilt while they're still on the rack.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I think the bride's frilt must have some kind of powerful aura that keep's her friends from telling her straight-up how awful those dresses are.
ReplyDeleteomg I had a bridesmaid dress one time that is the perfect example of frilt - my friend was 35 when she got married and had her 40 year old sister and 31 year old me as bridesmaids but she was determined to have a wedding fit for a 21 year old with pink satin bridesmaid dresses with big bows on the butts.
ReplyDeleteI once was required to wear a sky blue tux with a ruffled shirt. It took me years to track them all down, but I have destroyed all the pictures.
