halidit

(n.) [Medieval painting] Nearly-sainted personages, whose status as a potential saint is indicating by a glowing, golden dot that hovers above the head. Some critics argue that these dots are simply splashed paint. They point to the dot hovering over a poxed pick-pocket's head in Bosch's "Thousands of Horrible People Doing Horrible Things to Others (#152)."
