doidart

(n.) A two-headed dart fired from a small bow. Primarily used by Annumpi herdsmen against mantriti, but famously featured in the recently discovered Sherlock Holmes' story, The Case of the Annumpi's Diodart.

lundouse

(v.) to dip spoltal in a medicinal mixture that destroys any luns that infest them. Luns are members of the lice family that infect spoltals. They carry mooles, hicallalia, and a tendency to burpic. Although these conditions are extremely serious and can be fatal to a weakened spoltal, some consider lundousing to be a horopeca.

tasnump

n. A reclusive band of persons, found in lower Tasmania. Fond of keening odes to a long remembered object or living thing, or person named spoltays, beginning "O, wailly wailly, spoltays come to the reeds, dear spoltays." Thought to be related to Scots origin by language patterns, but inconsistencies in the historic record also note a Pacific voyage on rafts of reed mentioned in the same songs as above (See also songs of Numpi-Tiki in the repertoire of the tasnumpi.) Hypotheses as to the meaning of spoltays range from 1) the name of a female human who refused to set foot on the raft of reed, 2) a drink with hallucinatory effects, or 3) a revered iconic agricultural species or possibly even a sacred animal, perhaps related to canus spoltalus of Argentina.

(n) a spoltal nest where they raise their young until they reach the point where they can no longer stand being around their young and kick them out.

(v.) crying of an annoying, whining variety intended to change the behavior of the hearer.

(n.) An owl of the Pampas, noted for its whining, ghostly hoots.

(n.) A small handcart made of reeds and lined with spoltal fur. Used by the Annumpi for transporting sick or injured spoltals.

(n.) poetic form unique to the Annumpi where the last line of each five line verse must rhyme with the name of a spoltal.

(v.) To drive a herd of spoltal.

cleldes

(v. pl.) Annumpi.  To flee from a mortal threat.

(n.) A traditional dance marked by sweeping motions with the grapi. Each low sweep is accompanied by yells of "Grapi! Mantriti! Cleldes!"from the audience.  Ellsworth (Twenty Days with the Fierce Annumpi, 1625, London) translates the cry as "Here comes the grapi, mantriti. Flee!"

(n.) The oddly contorted, razor-sharp crook of the Annumpi. The crook is angled so that the Annumpi can sweep the area under the spoltal to defend against mantriti attacks.

mantriti

(n.) A pack of mantritus - small, vicious mammals that haunt the Pampas.  These nocturnal beasts are covered in patchy fur, a mix of brown and black patches. They attack by forming pyramids and lashing at the low-slung underbellies of the spoltals with their horny, yellow claws. When formed in an attack pyramid, mantriti look like a cross between a tiny man and a large pile of detritus.

(n) A dirndl worn by the annumpi women. Like the men's gesconat, it is also made of spoltal fur but also has reeds woven through the fur to make geometric designs.

(n) A heavy, water-resistant coat made by annumpi and woven from the copious fur that female spoltal shed during gestation.

annumpi

(n.) Traditional spoltal herders of the Argentinian Pampas. The name derives from their adopting the  halting, stumbling movements of the short-legged, long-bodied, low slung spoltals.

spoltal

(n). a mammal indigenous to the Argentinian plains with a coat pattern often described as a combination of spotted and splotchy.

Cocot

A small, South American cat about the size of a bobcat. Noted for it's rich brown coat.
